In 2024, SD Worx achieved another key milestone with the development of pioneering payroll software tailored specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany. This innovative solution will be integrated in the HCM suite SD Worx Buddy. The software significantly transforms traditional payroll administration by introducing real-time, continuous payroll processing, delivering clearer insights, and ensuring unmatched accuracy.
Stronger together
The software developer Teal Partners has been working closely together with SD Worx since 2016, combining technological expertise, deep employment sector knowledge, and strong market presence. This fruitful collaboration resulted in the participation of SD Worx in Teal Partners in 2021 and in the development of SD Worx Buddy, including an innovative payroll solution auditors call "an unprecedented innovation in the payroll market."
Continuous payroll
Unlike traditional payroll systems based on batch processing, the technology calculates payroll continuously, processing every change made by HR or the employer instantly. This new approach provides SMEs with immediate, transparent results - delivered in a fraction of the time previously required. As a result, payroll administration becomes significantly more efficient and accurate, allowing HR teams to focus on strategic priorities.
ITSG certified
Payroll software regularly exchanges sensitive data with government institutions to report social security contributions. In Germany, a specific certification is mandatory for digitally submitting official declarations. This certification, issued by the Informationstechnische Servicestelle der gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung (ITSG), serves as a rigorous exam in which auditors thoroughly test the system's performance against complex payroll scenarios. The payroll software within SD Worx Buddy passed this test with flying colours, obtaining the ITSG certificate in February 2025. Thanks to this achievement, SD Worx can now confidently grant customers access to the software, ensuring secure, reliable data exchanges with official institutions.
Smarter payroll with built-in predictability
Buddy also empowers SMEs with advanced forecasting functionalities. Organisations can clearly see the financial implications of future scenarios such as salary increases, bonuses, working-hour adjustments, or parental leave. Currently, SD Worx Germany's customers are among the first to benefit from the software - Finland and Luxembourg are next in line - and we are gathering their feedback to keep on improving SD Worx Buddy. New functionalities are constantly being added, enabling organisations to easily test various employment scenarios and their impact on payroll.
After Germany, Finland and Luxembourg, other European markets will follow. The software will be adapted to comply with local payroll legislation in each country.
